The January Position Report was released on Thursday, February 9th. This report exceeded expectations.
Year to date 2022 crop receipts now total 2,475,030,821 pounds, which is 12.47% below the 2,827,678,196 pounds received last January.
Total shipments for the month were 229.6 million pounds, which is an increase of 29.6% compared to last year's 177.2 million pounds. Export shipments were 163.2 million pounds, up 47.5% from last January. Domestic shipments were 66.5 million pounds. This is almost right in line with last January's 66.6 million pounds.
New sales for the month were 350.1 million pounds compared to 207.6 million pounds sold at this time last year, a significant 68.6% increase. Based on these numbers, the year-to-date industry sold position is 62.4%. This time last year, the industry was 60.0% sold.
